With local fans growing more and more impatient with the team's unwillingness to spend money on the free agent market, the Wild leaped into action this weekend, spending nearly $37 million on three players. The Wild signed Minnesota native and gritty forward Mark Parrish to a five-year, $13.25 million deal, Philadelphia defenseman Kim Johnsson to a four-year, $19.4 million deal and Vancouver defenseman Keith Carney to a two-year, $4.2 million deal, all late Saturday night. And while the activity drew praise from fans and players, general manager Doug Risebrough said that was the plan all along. "It's consistent with what we've said we were going to do," Risebrough said Sunday. "We wanted to develop some young players, see what they can do, then find out how we can help make them better."read on
