Why the Poor Starts?

The season is only a week old, but already some teams have raised eyebrows with their poor performances after only three games.

After reaching the Eastern Conference finals last season, expectations were high for the Philadelphia Flyers. Instead, they’ve gone winless their first three games, including blowing a 2-1 lead to the Montreal Canadiens — who they eliminated from last spring’s playoffs — to lose 5-3.

The Tampa Bay Lightning generated excitement in the offseason with their roster overhaul and promises from their new ownership of a fresh start, but after going winless in their first three games — giving up an average of 40 shots per game — it appears little has changed since last season.
