When Seeing Trade Rumors Remember Other Factors May Be In Play

from David Pollak of Working the Corners,

...I’ve seen the trade speculation out there, some of which I’ll chose not to dignify with a specific reference.

But before anyone gets too heated up over what may or may not be going on, a reminder that both Patrick Marleau and Marty Havlat have contracts with no-movement clauses in them while Dan Boyle has a modified no-trade clause in which he can limit his possible destinations.

At the end of the season, I asked Marleau if he might be willing to waive whatever no-movement clause he has in his contract if Doug Wilson approached him with a possible trade partner.

“We’ll cross that bridge if it ever comes up,” Marleau said, leaving a little wiggle room.

I decided it was time for a follow-up call, reached Marleau, reminded him of his earlier response and asked if the issue has come up this week.

“I’m not at that bridge,” was his stick-to-the-metaphor response.

It will be the team as a hole and what is the best.  Remember he can always retire if he sees fit too.  It has to be the player to wave the on trade clause no else can.  Have you ever thought that lost his heart in San Jose.  He wants to retire a Shark.  He will. be the last original Shark to leave. Twenty+ year with the same team and what does the wife and Kids feel.  Those are the things that are tugging at his heart.  Give him space and time. We will know when the time is right for all of his fans and the team to know.

Twenty+ year with the same team

Wow, the time does fly! The year 2017 is great! The Minnesota Wild have won 5 straight Cups with Mr. Suter and Mr. Parise, with those boys alternating as Conn Smythe winners each year!

Alas, Patrick Marleau is still a Shark with no Cups. But the wife and kids feel great, so at least that’s not tugging at his heart.

There might be a lockout in 2018, however. The other 49 owners didn’t approve of the contract that the Toledo Ice Dogs of the Upper Northern MidWestern Division offered Nicklas Lidstrom’s oldest son: 50-year at $10 million per year. Robotics and genetic engineering have dramatically increased the length of players’ careers, but this was too much to take. The owners are going broke and something needed to be done about it. The players are just too greedy.

I think there is just one poster here and he argues with himself.
Split personality.
