Assistant general manager Brad Treliving said Hanzal is the priority and expressed confidence that he will be signed “hopefully sooner rather than later; I think it’s the process right now.”
Stempniak’s agent has had weeks to explore options, and he is expected to meet with General Manager Don Maloney within the next several days.
“We’ve got a good relationship with the agent, and I’m sure if something was imminent somewhere else, he’d be back in touch with us,” Treliving said.

Phoenix is waiting for Gary to say its okay to sign them. Then Gary can write them a check. Maybe he can still fine the Devils on the Kovy deal and then cancel contracts with Luongo, Savard, Hossa, Pronger, Zetterberg and Franzen. Who cares that they were approved by the NHL..he IS the NHL. He can do whatever he wants. Then he can write a check to Phoenix so they can sign the players.
