It actually looked like he was getting a taste of his own medicine…like Komisarek said something to him and he snapped.  Despite his rep this is surprising for Avery…and he should be disciplined in some way.

What Is Avery Thinking

Thinking, Avery?  Isn’t that an OXY-moron?

You can get a better feeling of the slash from Avery in this video, which embedding has been disabled.

thanks for that video link, Paul. I don’t know how this guy is still in the NHL. Those slashes were vicious. They’ve already rehabbed him with anger management, and still he does stuff like this. I’d be happy if they set a new record in suspensions with this incident.

He absolutely was thinking when he did that.

He was thinking “nobody’s around, why not try to take this guy out of the game?”

Time to bring out the ban-hammer, league.  Save your league, save your face, and save yourself.  Punt this trash to the curb ASAP.

Also then suspend his coach, and fine the Rangers heavily.  After all, they’re responsible for this dolt out there as well…

Except that he’s…...not.  I can’t believe that I’m about to defend Sean Avery.

Look, the guy’s a douche, there’s no denying that.  But it’s amazing that people are ready to kick him out of the league when, up until this incident, his “infractions” have been non-violent ones.  I think he’s only been suspended once, for the “sloppy seconds” remark.  And his fines have come because of diving or more remarks.

It kills me that he’s become one of the most recognizable faces of the Rangers, especially considering my favorite players have been guys like Adam Graves, a player most people see as an honorable and classy guy (except for Penguins fans).  But he’s not exactly the monster people make him out to be.  Not like, say, Chris Pronger, who’s tried to physically hurt people instead of just hurting their feelings.

This is like the opposite of what happened with Chris Simon.  He takes a baseball swing at someone’s head and everyone’s talking about how he’s really a great guy. Avery makes an off-color comment about an ex-girlfriend and everyone wants him dead.  Makes no sense.

It looks like the league is not going to review this

Eh, maybe you’re right. No way he’s been as violent or reckless as Pronger or others. Maybe I’m just sick of seeing his name involved in so many stupid incidents. And that’s the thing with him. They’re all stupid incidents. Not one of those reactionary stuck a leg out, or threw an elbow out on a hit, or fisix headshots. It’s always him consciously choosing to be a moron.  Still deserves a suspension for this incident especially since it was a concious decision, and not once, but twice.

Like all people who deal in the outrageous, they have to get increasingly outrageous to get the same reaction.  God only knows what this little degenerate will do next.

Okay. Got a real news source?

Sorry, but Bleacher Report is nothing but a glorified blog masquerading as a news source. This stuff is almost as bad as Eklund.

Colin Campbell needs to have his head examined as it is clear he has some serious post-concussion syndrome going on. Avery should definitely be suspended and/or fined for his actions on the ice. It was pretty clear when the first slash didn’t take Komisarek down that the second was intended to do so. If the NHL keeps letting crap like this occur in a game then things will only escalate. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, is it going to take a guy dying on the ice for changes to be implemented?

bleacher report isn’t a great source, but Darren Drager seems to know what he’s talking about. It’s pathetic that a clear attempt to injure isn’t going to be reviewed.
