from Ben Kuzma of The Whit Towel,
Troy Passingham was sitting at his girlfriend’s house in Windsor, Ont. when the phone rang. It was the Red Wings calling. It was no joke.
With the Red Wings resting four injured forwards for Wednesday’s clash with the Vancouver Canucks, the club loaned goaltender Joey MacDoanld to Grand Rapids to create enough salary cap space to recall winger Jan Mursak from the AHL affiliate.
added 11:45am, via Dan Murphy tweet,
Wings have signed an OHL goalie to back-up tonight so Babcock can dress 12 forwards. Hudler is probable + Mursak re-called.

I’d really like to know why Ozzie is still not back. There’s something not right there. Quite frankly for the playoffs, if Joey Mac has ot backup Howard I’m ok with it. But for right now, his continual delay returning is causing real issues.

Passingham went 9-10-3 with the Sarnia Sting this season and had a 4.76 goals-against average and .879 saves percentage. He also played with the Windsor Spitfires and went 9-5-2 with a 3.24 GAA and .898 GAA.
WOW.

I’m happy to say Joey Mac has surprised me this time in Detroit. To the point where if he’s the backup going into the playoffs, I wont be crapping my pants because of him.

Let’s give Passingham a look-see; he’s 6’4”. For once, it’s nice to see a big goalie in net for the Wings.

Per Malik via Khan - Osgood is riding pine and Joey Mac is back to back up.

did you read the Malik Report link?
Detroit Red Wings goaltender Chris Osgood has suffered another setback in his attempt to return from sports hernia surgery on Jan. 11, as the club today placed him on long-term injured reserve, retroactive to last week./quote]
so, what’s not right is his hernia surgery didn’t go as well as they had hoped…or his recovery is not. I’m starting to think he’ll never play between the pipes for the Wings again.

What an awesome story for the kid. I’d bet he’d play just for the game worn jersey to remember the opportunity.
