Ken Holland said Shanahan's agent, Rick Curran, indicated last month that the 36-year-old left wing would take the option. Now, he might be having second thoughts. ``We've been in it long enough to know that if nothing's happened by now there's a possibility that maybe he's entertaining thoughts of not exercising it,'' Holland said. ``I would like to have Brendan back. He can do a lot of things; he's a veteran, a leader, he can score goals. ``But at the same time, he's got to want to be here. I'm not sure what's driving his thought process. I think he was very happy here. Hopefully, he wants to come back, but it's his call.''
