What A Ride

from the Traverse City Record Eagle,
Kirk Maltby blacked out twice Wednesday afternoon, but it wasn't from a hard check or a wayward hockey puck. Maltby, a left wing for the Detroit Red Wings, was strapped into the cockpit of one of the Navy's FA/18 Hornet Blue Angels for a 45-minute roller coaster ride over a cloudy Traverse City. His was the first of three rides given. Afterwards, sweaty and glad to be back on solid ground, Maltby said the ride was exhilarating. "I wasn't sure at first," he said. "When you're hitting those Gs it's a bit of a workout. But I can obviously see why these guys enjoy what they do. It was great."
