What Will The Devils Do As The Trade Deadline Approaches?

At the stroke of midnight Sunday night, the NHL will lift its Olympic break roster freeze, opening a 10-day window that lasts until the March 5 trade deadline.

For the Devils, it will provide a strong indication about where the franchise is heading. Will goalie Martin Brodeur ask for a trade, or be asked to waive his no-trade clause? Will general manager Lou Lamoriello be willing to deal captain Bryce Salvador? Will the Devils be buyers or sellers?

“I’ve been traded before. Once you’ve been traded, it takes a lot of that uncertainty off the way you look at it. You know the world doesn’t end when you get traded,” Salvador told The Star-Ledger.

“But it may be a unique situation with Marty. We’ll see what happens there. For myself, at this point Lou hasn’t talked to me about anything.”
