from Stan Fischler of the Daily Freeman,
I can tell you in 20 different ways.
1. Winning the President’s Trophy is good and well, but it guarantees zip in the playoffs.
2. Almost everyone — me included — underestimated the Lightning.
3. The Rangers easily beat a very weak Pittsburgh Penguins team in the first round, giving New York a false sense of security.
4. Only a lucky break enabled Alain Vigneault’s skaters to beat Washington in the second round. That should have been the tip-off that the Rangers were going to be challenged.
5. Losing the team energy pounder Mats Zuccarello in the first round turned into a mortal setback.
6. Future Hall of Famer Marty St. Louis didn’t quite cut it as the necessary replacement for Zuccarello.
7. Goalie Henrik Lundqvist can stop pucks but he cannot score goals.
