What Does Adrian Dater Do?

from Adrian Dater of All Things Avs,

I hope this all doesn’t turn into one big narcissistic bore, a look at ME ME ME. There are certainly plenty of other sports media out there who have that market cornered, and I don’t want to add to it. All I know is, I get an awful lot of questions about what it is that I do, or questions from people wanting to know how to get into the field of what it is that I do.

And so I’m going to hope to answer some of those questions with a deeper look at it all. I don’t want this to be all about me (though I’m sure it will a lot), but more about what it is that I’m seeing with my eyes and passing it off to the rest of you, with insight and things learned along the way. After all, this is my 18th year doing this. I ought to know a thing or two by now.

OK, so what am I doing right now? I’m typing on this piece of software is what. It’s 4:18 a.m. and I woke up about a half hour and am trying to get back to sleep at some point soon. You’ll probably hear more than once that I have sleep issues. Grade A sleep problems, the kind that need pills.

What Does Adrian Dater Do?

Apparently the answer is that he blathers on for 24 paragraphs without saying anyting of consequence…

The rest of his body of work reads like that, why the sudden change?

Dater is typically pathetic, but that set a new standard.

What does Adrian do? You mean besides use the words “I” and “I’m” 15 times in the first three graphs of the latest drivel?

Why, he bestows all his acute knowledge of the game of hockey onto us, often in the form of highly-thought out, intuitive questions . . . y’know, like right around deadline day back in 2011 when he wondered if the Avs would trade 87-year old Peter Forsberg to someone for what would obviously be a high draft pick in return.

What does it take to get into your field, Adrian? Apparently, these days, not much.
