Great move Kenny.  A cap hit we can live with.  Now go give Brunner a roofie and sign him while he’s asleep.

I sort of agree EP, but given how the Wings have had several 4th line guys in the top six for 3 years…I’m ok with this.

Suck it.  Chief, you get to suck a couple.

When will you people ever learn?

Bleep Brunner.  Aflredsson makes him irrelevant and Tatar makes him disposable.  Brunner is gone, Fil is gone, and Cleary is gone if he actually thinks he’s getting a raise off a contract in which he was overpaid in the first place.

I will now try and make some space for the people who had leapt off the Holland bandwagon as they frantically scramble to get back on.

By the way, an under the radar benefit to signing Weiss and Alfredsson is both guys familiarity with the Eastern Conference.  They’re going to have a lot of very helpful info not only on their old teams, but on all the other teams in their old divisions.

Coup if you ask me. Weiss is stealth one of the better two way players in the sport and nobody noticed because he was on the Panthers. That he’s making less in UFA than Clowe is flabbergasting.

So the Wings sign their 3 RFA’s and put Sammy on the LTIR or waive him and send him to GR and everything is good. If they resign Brunner, someone else has to go. Would have been happy with Brunner but not Weiss.

Hey holland showed up for work today, great.  Saints be praised, at least he did something, but I don’t like them much.  But he does deserve credit for making moves and making his team better.

Don’t think you can bury salary in the AHL anymore. Sammy is going LTIR I would think, plus someone needs to be traded I assume. Emmerton is probably gone pending Helm’s health…I’d say Eaves and/or Tootoo is next.

Other than, you know, having that team get to game 7 against the Cup champs with three forwards and a dman out.

But yeah, in the context where ‘life’ is making moves… good call.

In 2009-10 the Wings had Lidstrom, Rafalski, Stuart, Homer, Helm, Draper, and Maltby.  The 2012-13 team had none of those guys.  And the 2012-13 team, again, went to game 7 against the Cup champs.

But, yeah, Holland hadn’t shown any signs of life since 2009.  Holy bleep.

How does Tatar make him disposable?  They were both supposed to be on the team at the same time.  Hell, it was supposed to be Tatar, Brunner AND the talked-about UFA winger ALL on the team at the same time.

I like Alfie, but after the one year he gives us it would be nice to not have to look for a scoring winger again.

HiHD has little in his life to be happy for, so he pins his hopes on his idol Holland.  I am not jumping on the holland bandwagon, not crazy about the moves and still thinks he doesn’t trade roster payers and over values his roster.  Alfredsson fell into his lap, when Otfawa essentially low balled him, his friendship with the Swedes are what made that possible. But as I said he deserves credit for making the moves he feels would help his team, s he deserves credit for doing his job, novel concept.

Good point.  The 2012-13 Wings almost made it out of the second round.  Why did Holland even bother getting up this morning?

It must feel good to shit sunshine in the morning.

All you have to do if you want to feel the same way is to stop whining about a guy who is most likely the best GM in the NHL.  At least top 5, and almost certainly top 3.

It’s not like I came up with some off the wall, wildly outside the box position here, Fluffy.  Literally anyone can know what I knew.  I’m not some 25 year hockey scout or some old, salty ex-org guy.

Holland’s really good at his job.  Really, really, really good.  All it takes to know that is a willingness to look at the whole picture.

He’s good at his job. He’s also good at not showing arrogance and being ‘chill’ with the media and the common man; something you’re not good at.

cheese Great aquisition, He can play our fast tempo 200 ft game. Fil wasn’t a great faceoff man WEISS IS! he’ll make us the best face-off team in the league and; that, means alot in today’s NHL game. I’m very Happy. KENNY did us PROUD with getting both Weiss and Alfie. I bet if ya ask any current players what they think , EVERY 1 would say A+ Kenny. Anybody wonder WHY Alfie Chose to come to Detroit?? He wants a chance for the CUP. Another plus: both Alfie and Wiess played in the East last season, and these are mature players, their insight (about other teams) will be invauable!!I say again AAAA+++...KENNY….....rayzredwing grin  grin  grin

Happy with the Alfie deal (although 1 year of Alfie does not make Brunner expendable), meh about the Weiss deal, although money was good, and still hope that Kenny some how squeezes a d upgrade through trade, ‘cause that Q/Smitty pairing is brutal.

Best part of the whole deal is Fil can go take a flyin, fornicatin leap.
