This is a very good thing for the Bolts.  It sounds like a lot of money, yes, but Stamkos is to Tampa Bay what Zetterberg and Datsyuk are to the Red Wings.

Dangerous game Tampa played with this, betting against offer sheets, but it paid off. This contract will look especially nice if there’s a salary rollback next year.

Big cap hit but well worth it, Stevie Y had to get this done sooner or later. Now for Drew Doughty and Shea Weber…

Now Stevie can work on getting Teddy Purcell signed.

that is a very friendly number for an elite player.  I would currently rank him in the top 10 in the league… maybe even top 5 if you don’t include playoffs.

Fair deal and nice to see it isn’t 17 years long with diminishing dollars for the last decade.

Respectable number for his talent and potential.  Stamkos is a good player, if he finds consistency and rounds out the rest of his game he becomes elite.

Glad to hear Stammer staying with the bolts long term.  Stevie Y got a good team ready for another run next season. Maybe needs one of their prospects to make the team sometime next season and contribute offensively to put this team into serious Cup contender.
TB putting it all on Rolo again I see next season. Hope he holds up physically. He’s been age defying looking like a 25 yr old that last season.

Absolutely agree 100%. I hope the next CBA includes a term limit on future contracts. Anything over 5 years is too long in my view.

I do wonder why this particular deal took so long to hammer out. It’s not like Stamkos ended up getting outrageous money.
