from the East Valley Tribune,
Gretzky, who said the callups would not come today, singled out forward Shane Doan, defenseman Keith Ballard and goalie Mikael Tellqvist as those who played the proper way and didn’t object when it was suggested that it looked like some of his players quit during the game.
“Other than a few guys, we didn’t play hard the first two periods,” Gretzky said. “I don’t care who’s on the other side. Gordie Howe in a Red Wings uniform at the age of 72 might have got a goal in the first two periods against us. It was a pretty bad effort.”
