The National Hockey League Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly sent out a memo to all general managers and coaches, part of which reads as follows: "During the first week of the playoffs, we have had several instances of team personnel using inappropriate and profane language in media interactions... While we appreciate the intensity and passion with which you all approach your jobs, everyone must also understand the need to maintain suitable decorum in public settings... Any such violations in the future will subject both the individual's involved and their clubs to potential fines."
