With a paper ballot no longer an option for All-Star voting, how do teams encourage their fans to vote? The San Jose Sharks are bringing the ballot to the fans...
SAN JOSE – Beginning Dec. 7, 2006, HP Fan Balloting Stations will be installed at HP Pavilion providing access for fans attending Sharks home games to log on to NHL.com and vote for their favorite Sharks players for the “Cold-Fx/NHL All-Star Game, to be held Jan. 24 in Dallas. Hewlett Packard has donated six HP dv6000 laptops that will be placed throughout the HP Pavilion concourse for all Sharks home games for the month of December, in addition to voting stations that will be set up inside the Sharks Store, at Logitech Ice and Sharks Ice at Fremont. Fans who vote could win a trip to the 2006 NHL All-Star Game and a chance to meet NHL legend Mark Messier, courtesy of the NHL. Four Sharks are included in the ballot to determine the starting line-up for the Western Conference squad: Captain Patrick Marleau, Joe Thornton, Jonathan Cheechoo and Scott Hannan.
Another example of pro-active thinking by the Sharks!
