According to R-Sport, Viktor Tikhonov's son, Vasily, has passed away due to an accident in Moscow.

Vasily was 55 and had his own strong coaching pedigree, having coached Dynamo Riga, Assat Pori and Lukko Rauma of the Finish SM-Liiga, working as an assistant coach with the Kentucky Thoroughblades and San Jose Sharks (which is why his son Viktor, named after his grandfather, was born in the U.S.), and having coached Avangard Omsk and Ak Bars Kazan before returning to his father's most famous coaching spot, CSKA Moscow, to work as an assistant coach.

He was working as an advisor to Sergei Fedorov at the time of his passing, and the Moscow police are still investigating the cause of Vasily's death.
