Pavelec left with what the Jets called a lower-body injury and head coach Paul Maurice started his press conference by saying he wouldn't have a further update until Sunday.
However, one member of the media saw Pavelec leave the arena on crutches, so one would expect that goalie Connor Hellebuyck is going to be recalled from the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League.
Hellebuyck, chosen by the Jets in the fifth round of the 2012 NHL Draft, is 2-7-1 with a 2.41 goals against average and .927 save percentage in 10 games with the Moose his season.
Doan, who went over to apologize to Pavelec during a stoppage in play after he got out of the penalty box, explained his side of the story following the game.
“I'm trying to get to the net. I hit the puck or it hit my skate, I kind of lost my balance and got pushed,” Doan told reporters. “I was almost on the ice when we hit. I just said that I really didn't mean to run into him. Once I'm going down, there's not much I can do there. Obviously, it wasn't intentional.”
