Video- Puck Finds The Camera Hole

Theo Peckham of the Edmonton Oilers shot the puck through the hole in the glass designed for photographers who shoot the game.

All four on-ice officials missed the call since Peckham was given two minutes for delay of game.

Another reason for a coach challenge?

Don’t be daft, referees make mistakes. Sometimes I think FIFA has it right in keeping human emotions and mistakes in the sport and avoiding the mechanisation of it. If players and coaches make mistakes all the time, what makes referees exempt from error?

Watched this play live…  Was obvious what had happened.  The player knew right away and tried to explain…  Of course the Ducks scored on the PP too.  Still, hard to believe they (all 4 officials) could not see what happened.  You could obviously see the puck didn’t go over the glass?!  I am guessing if the Oil had not won they would have made more of a stink about it.

I agree mistakes happen but this Walkom guy seems to rate pretty high on the douche side of things, no wonder they sent him back to the ice (I know, it was his decision).

I don’t think referees are exempt from error, but man they sure seem to screw the pouch a lot.  I think the NFL has it right.  They come out and say when a big mistake is made, apologize and move on.  NHL tries to portray their officials as perfect - perhaps that is where some of the fans dislike comes from…
