NEW YORK (Jan. 13, 2020) – Edmonton Oilers forward Zack Kassian has been suspended for two games, without pay, for violating Rule 46.2 (Aggressor) during an altercation with Calgary Flames forward Matthew Tkachuk during NHL Game No. 700 in Calgary on Saturday, Jan. 11, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 18:06 of the second period. Kassian received two minor penalties for roughing and a 10-minute misconduct.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, Kassian will forfeit $20,967.74. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.

Ditto. The league protecting their favorites no matter what they do. Dirtchuk should have been suspended for the hit to Kassian’s head. Sadly if it was the other way around it would be a five plus game suspension.

At least Kassian got enough punches in to make him cower.  Hopefully it’s not over yet.  Who doesn’t love a good rivalry

I would take a 2 game suspension for that. He got his moneys worth.

And the coward gets nothing. What a joke.

Someday someone is going to change the layout of Matthew Tkachuk’s face and I’ll love it.

If you don’t feel the obligation to fight after delivering a dirty hit, you should re-think your hitting.

Dirtchuk should have been suspended for the hit to Kassian’s head.

Charging, leaving your feet, hit to the head, intent to injure. All of those are punishable offenses and he got nothing.
