Video- Your Call On The Kris Letang Stick Incident

via Brett Cyrgalis of the New York Post,

As the Blueshirts went down 2-1 in the best-of-seven contest, they watched as forward Viktor Stalberg was nailed with a stick to his face from Pittsburgh defenseman Kris Letang with 12:45 remaining in the third period. Letang was circling around his own net, battling against the forechecking Dominic Moore, when he saw Stalberg in front of him and swung his stick right into Stalberg’s face.

Stalberg went to the bench and had the trainer look for missing teeth, but no penalty was called and Stalberg didn’t miss a shift.

Stick to the face on purpose, should be a few games there but probably will get nothing.

Bellamore got 1 game for almost killing a man and Letang should get a “few” games?  I assume by a “few” you mean more than a couple?  So at least 3?

First, Bellamre shouldn’t have been suspended because what the NHL deemed was losing an edge was Orlov actually trying to stop to avoid a hit from the right side with a player less then a foot behind him, And in this case, Keith got 6 games, 5 regular plus 1 game in the playoffs for just as bad of a swing, so yeah, 2 or 3 would be good.

It is so refreshing to hear the voice of reason from a Flyers fan.  So now that we understand that Bellamore’s suspension was unjustified can we all get your opinion on Wayne Simmonds and his slash to the neck of the Penguins goalie Murray.

Sure, he should’ve gotten the same penalty as Chimera did for butt ending Gostisbehere and suspension Wilson did for charging/boarding McDonald. Oh, what’s that? The referees on the ice (in the first instance) and NHL did nothing (on the second)? See where the issue is? Did Bellamare’s hit look bad, yes, but the reality is, and I’ve seen this lamented on this site numerous times, is defenders just hitting the brakes with someone coming down on them. The boarding call on the ice was the right call, the suspension was not.

Except Murray just returned last night from the Simmonds BS.  Ghost and McD both are fine.  Same with Stalberg.

My worst regret with this conversation is that we will not have more of them after Wednesday night.  Tell your buddies not to bring jewelry to the rink, I heard security is tight.

Garbage play, complete lack of respect for your opponent.
2-3 games should be about right.

Should get 3 games.  May get one.  A fine is more likely because of the team he plays for.

Did the stick use any offensive at the time of incident?

I just don’t get it.

No hearing, not even a phone call to ask, “What happened here?”. Nothing. Does anyone even wonder why any more?
