The Anaheim Ducks lost 3-2 in a 14 round shootout to the New York Islanders, this is about one of those goals in the shootout...
from Eric Stephens of the OC Register,
After a review involving the NHL situation room, Hickey was determined to have not interfered with Bernier before the puck crossed the line. Afterward, Bernier took an adamant stance.
"I think it was pretty obvious," Bernier said. "I made the save and my skate was going right to the post where I wanted it to be. He pushed me in."
Bernier wasn't only one angry. The call left Ducks coach Randy Carlyle incensed as he got an explanation from referees Gord Dwyer and Dean Morton.
“You can’t get bent out of shape from the score and from what we feel is unjustified in the allowing of the shootout goal. You can get yourself sideways in that,” Carlyle said. “They made the call. We’ll do our necessary phone calls behind the scenes. We’ll have a conversation with some people and see what they have to say about it.”
“I was under the understanding that you cannot score a goal in the NHL today by pushing the goaltender’s pad with the puck underneath it over the line, but I guess I was proved wrong again tonight."
