Haha! How the hell could they miss that?

That’s probably one of the worst no-calls i’ve seen. :o

This is hilarious. Everyone - Duchene included - thought it was gonna be blown dead. Hopefully this will help spur the League to do a thorough review of the quality of officiating, League-wide. It’s been especially bad (and in particular, inconsistent) for the past few years.

Also, we need to have EVERY GOAL VIDEO REVIEWED! How is that not a requirement in this day and age…isn’t the goal to get the correct call, not keep refs happy?

My big problem with the way the NHL does things is that when a ref makes a call there is often no going back.  Just look at the rules for waiving off goals.  Once the ref waives off a goal, it doesn’t matter if video review proves him wrong.  That’s asinine.

If the NHL put the cart behind the horse (joining modern sports civilization), and let the video evidence give the final word on calls like this, the NHL would be a better place.  It would sure go a long way to improve the refs’ image.

I have my tinfoil hat in hand but I agree with everything you said BK and because it seems so common sense and easy, it begs me to ask WHY wouldn’t they do it?  They have to keep up pace with who, baseball?  Football?  Hockey really can’t afford to have a video review of all goals to determine legitimacy or have 1 coaches challenge a game?

It’s more beneficial to the league to have human’s making split second decisions that can’t be overturned if, for instance they wanted more power-plays to increase scoring opportunities since the only way to have enough space to make hockey plays now is on a breakaway or powerplay.

Just strikes me as suspicious for not fixing this incredibly easy-to-fix problem.
