Yes, that is probably a suspendable hit, but if it is, then he should have been suspended for one of the previous hits this postseason. I’ve given up trying to figure out what this league is thinking at any given time, tho.

Also, is anyone else having trouble getting these embedded videos to play? There was another one yesterday that wouldn’t work, and I tried it on three different browsers. It plays fine on the NHL website. Weird.

I was hoping for at least two, but honestly didn’t expect three.

Seems like a make up suspension after letting the first one go entirely.

And it’s hard to ignore blood on the ice and headlines about a broken jaw and concussion.

I have no more insight than that into how the DoPS makes what so often seem like arbitrary distinctions. We all seemingly end being surprised most of the time.

But this kind of suspension is better late than never. Missing three playoffs game in
a row ought to at least wipe the smirk off of Wilson’s face for a couple of days.

Yeah, once in a while they use common sense and get it exactly, unquestionably right.

If he wanted to play hockey he had plenty of options. If he wanted to pick this guy’s head off he did exactly what he needed to do. He basically turned the whole other way and launched - two issues they point out pretty well.

3 just seems like overkill after not even bothering with the hearing on the Dumolin hit.  BUT.  That’s in a normal, logical world based on science and reason.  This is the NHL, where if you dream it, you can do it.

I think Wilson should have been suspended a game for the Dumolin hit.  If DoPS hadn’t dropped the ball on that one this hit would of never happened.  3 games seems a bit much for this particular hit.  This feels like a make up call for missing previous offenses.  But I think we all agree, the NHL’s discipline system is a joke.

mmm, if you’re blocking javascript (NoScript etc), give temp permission to nhl.com, nhlstatic.com and bamcontent.com scripts and it’ll run

Someone on Twitter said the suspension was basically two for the broken jaw / concussion and one for the Dumoulin hit.  Probably a bit of truth to that.

If the previous hit hadn’t happened and there was no broken jaw does anyone really think he would have gotten 3 games? That’s what is so messed up with the leagues handing out of suspensions. There really is no solid reasoning behind them. Although history should be taken into account, history where they didn’t punish shouldn’t be admissible. Injury should never be taken into account. The action should be punished, not the result.
