The lockout should have been real in July. If both sides were as serious as their press clippings have said, there is no reason what so ever why this deal should not have been done during the summer. No reason what so ever. But, since this is a management/labor dispute, as always in any management/labor dispute, both sides forget their purpose and instead focus on who wins/loses in their battle against each other. No thought whatsoever goes to who their customers are or what their business is about. None. Somebody has to win and somebody has to lose. Everything else is forgotten. Its a sad state. I have no sympathy whatsoever for either side. They deserve the bed that the made. Cancel the season I say. Cancel next season as well. Let the sport really, really suffer. Let both sides learn a serious financial lesson that compromise with the customer in mind is the only solution to long term health. Neither side has learned that fact. Unless this lesson is learned, this same crap will continue after the next CBA is up.
