Video- The Kassian Stick-Swing

via NHL.com,

Vancouver Canucks right wing Zack Kassian will have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Monday for a high-sticking incident during a preseason game against the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night at Rexall Place.

Kassian was offered the opportunity for an in-person hearing as required by provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement for any suspension that can exceed five games.

Here is a better video of the incident via Sportsnet.

A family member of mine used to live across the street from where Kassian billeted during his years in Peterborough.
The family only lasted half a season before they called the Petes to have him transferred to another home.
To say that Kassian will never be mistaken for Stephen Hawking is an understatement.
You might have better luck talking to drywall if you’re looking for a meaningful conversation.

Total lack of stick control, no doubt.  Intent to cause serious injury?  One must looks at this guy’s past history.  I would nail him regardless as a player must keep his stick under control.

Example #1 for past history (granted, in the OHL):

“It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s Zach Zassian!”
