They can’t even get their analysis correct after a year and a half. Regarding Smith’s hit, Shanahan says, “Smith recklessly targets Ben Smith’s head.” That’s just pure horsesh!t.

Brendan was aiming for Ben Smith’s shoulder and, at the very most, he simply missed it. At no point did he “target” Ben Smith’s head. Nothing in Brendans previous history in hockey would indicate that he was that kind of player.

That hit should have resulted in no more than a one-game suspension. The six games Brendan got is one reason no one has any faith in the fairness of Shanny’s operation.

And BTW, the first example of a “legal” hit was a joke. It’s pretty obvious Phaneuf raised his shoulder at the last second in order to hit his guy in the head. And that is the kind of guy Phaneuf is.

What OTC said….and when will they actually look at the fact that half of these jackwagon hits are charging? THAT is what’e most dangerous about these ‘legal’ hits of your Shanny. Targeted or not, going 50 mph from 75 feet away is the bigger issue.
