Chara picks up the Boston Coach and throws him across the ice, well I would love to see it!

I had the privilege of meeting Z and chatting him up for about 20 mins at the Nassau Coliseum.

Several Islanders prospects were handing out programs at the entry draft party held at the Coliseum - I remember walking up to him and looking UP to him ( and I am 6’3) and saying “You must be Zdeno Chara” - and he said “How did you know?”  ( like you could not know a 6’9 18 year old was him!)

What a lovely young man he was.  He was asking me what it was like to live on Long Island, about what it was like to have seen the Stanley Cup being won (he would find out in 2011!!) and about a few other things.  Such a polite guy, and you can just tell he has not changed.  I was watching on TV when Z scored this season his first goal as a CAP and all the Washington players mugged him after that goal with huge smiles on their faces.

I think it was the 1997 entry draft.

Luongo and Brewer were chosen at 4 + 5 overall in Round 1 - so the team used a draft party to entertain fans and sell tickets.
