Don’t agree with Kypreos at all.

Everything Bettman moved on were things he shouldn’t have cared about in the first place or shouldn’t have had access to in the first place (cap number, 8 year contracts, appeals court for suspensions, deciding the penalties for his bosses when they commit fraud).

It’s less that “he caved for the good of the game” and a more that he finally admitted scraps were scraps (apart from pensions, but companies always give on those because they’re the problem of someone other than the current stakeholders).

If Bettman could be said to have done anything differently “for the good of the game” in the last week, I guess you could say he quit fighting the union over a few things that amounted to nothing to him. That’s praiseworthy only in the same sense it’s praiseworthy that a mugger stopped kicking his victim 4 hours after he already had all his money, instead of slitting his throat too.
