Video- Suspend Evander Kane

from Mark Kiszla of the Denver Post,

Will somebody give the Avs a broom, so they can sweep away Edmonton from the NHL playoffs and take Oilers rogue Evander Kane out with the trash?

Kane is a stain on the game of hockey. The kind that requires bleach and a wire brush to scrub the stink from the ice.

What Kane did to Nazem Kadri, slamming the Avalanche center into the boards with obvious intent to injure, fits the modus operandi of a scoundrel that has been known to flash a fake COVID-19 vax card and has been accused of welching on a stinking pile of gambling debts.

“The hit, it’s the most dangerous in hockey,” Colorado coach Jared Bednar said late Saturday after the Avs beat Edmonton, 4-2, to take a 3-0 lead in the Western Conference finals. Kane “hit him headfirst from behind, eight feet away from the boards.”

That the NHL should suspend Kane for no less than two games is a no-brainer. The real brain-twister is why Kane would be employed by a team in a city that loves hockey as much as Edmonton does.

I’ve watched this a few times now and it’s a peculiar one. Kadri turns his feet to stop/slow probably just a little too early which puts him in a vulnerable position. We’ve seen players doing this lately, maybe to avoid a check into the boards, but it puts them in more harm when someone is there on top of them already. Add to that he was looking to the side.

Kane hardly touches him. He didn’t need to check him hard for Kadri to go down given kadris positioning.

This is one of those plays where I think guys need to take note of where they stop in relation to the board, because there’s some onus in making yourself vulnerable. Same goes for guys who are leaning down when they play the puck and get hit with a shoulder or elbow to the head… You lean down and your head is now at shoulder or even elbow height for someone else.

Kiszla is such an effective advocate for the opinion
opposite to the one he’s arguing. Everything is personal
and insulting and so over the top - it’s an unprecedented emergency
because it’s the Avs. I’m surprised he didn’t argue looking at Kadri
the wrong way is now a hate crime and Kane needed to be dragged away
in manacles for touching him, or maybe just daring to still exist.

It’s a different version of the impression their broadcasting team gives:
why are these two men continually yelling and exaggerating everything.

Kane will have a hearing today.

Um, I don’t know if it’s intended, but you might want to rethink your reference to Kane needing bleach to be cleaned up analogy. I am not the PC police, but that feels like the wrong choice.

” rethink your reference ” No need.  It’s an Avalanche beat writer. They all have their woki woke cards and are immune to your feared aspersions.

Kane has been suspended. Kadri will make a miraculous, game time, courageously, amazing, decision to play.  His sacrifice will go down in the heroic anals (sp?!) of NHL history…

The NHL has allowed these two turds to continue to float in the punch bowl and now is paying the price…

I do not have “feared aspersions.” Aspersions reference integrity. I am pointing to blatant/overt racist language. I am not woke. But I am not blind.

The Kane hit is certainly borderline but this article is way over the top. Hockey is a tough sport played at an ever increasing speed. Players are taught to finish their checks and in the playoffs the physical play is ramped up.

Kane has always played a rough, physical game and you know that is one element the Oilers want him to bring to these contests. I’m all for eliminating as much of the unnecessary hits from behind or to the head as possible but recognize that both players have a responsibility to avoid them. The difference between a good clean hit and “dirty” hit is very small. At least this one was in the course of gameplay, not some bs that happened long after the play was over.
