Doan on Letang’s injury: “You never want to see that so you feel awful as a player when something like that happens.”

More from Doan via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette,
“That’s awful. When it happened, I could tell the way he went into the boards, it was awkward. He so good. We talked about it, we’ve got to make sure we don’t let him jump by. I just went to make sure I got a piece of him so he couldn’t jump by me. Obviously, he went into the boards awkward. We have to finish our checks on him. I didn’t mean to him in that … I hit him just to stop him from jumping by. You never, ever want to see anybody like that, especially a guy of his caliber. Obviously, everything that he’s went through in the last couple of years, you never want to see that. You feel awful as a player when something like that happens. It is what it is.”

It’s become a rote response for Doan. He’s the guy who doesn’t understand what the problem is because he always says he’s sorry, completely ignoring the fact that he should stop doing things for which he so often has to apologize.

Also read within the last hour a tweet from an MSM who talked to Downie about the hit.
Not quoting but went like this, Downie felt the hit wasn’t that bad and said Letang happened to fall the wrong way.

He did fall the wrong way but Doan finishes his hits whether the other player is vulnerable or not… which i actually dont have a problem with. It’s when he loses his *#$%@& mind after the whistle that makes him a doanbag.
