I’ve shoved people into a post, but not face first while they were falling down.

Again, an NHL referee in position to see everything who arbitrarily chooses
to just ignore it.

Department of Player Safety.

Epidemic of head injuries.

A small fine may be all that’s mandated in the CBA for post-hoc consideration of a missed call. And it’s slightly better than nothing.

I don’t want NHL refs to get the pitchforks and torches treatment, doxxing, mob style harassment..all of the awful trends in our vengeful, social media-addled culture.

But these guys are an embarrassment. NHL officials are just shockingly bad at their jobs. Which makes me think it might be more the league culture of impunity where anyone who criticizes officials gets fined and read the riot act - is forced to merely apologize - but the officials are at most only accountable behind closed doors to a DoPS and league brass who perpetuate the same culture of highly arbitrary, inconsistent, often baffling even seemingly biased decisionmaking.

But hey, the league is reportedly sending George Parros to the Oilers-Flames rematch. To I guess make it to clear all that his breathtaking incompetence will be enforced with extreme prejudice.

They should have thrown that SOB Lindgren out of the game.  Good thing we play them again next week - he better be ready….

Ref #7 in the corner’s job was to watch for the puck crossing the goal line, which at the time was pinballing around the crease on the near side of the net. Despite facing the direction of the incident, that was not and should not have been his point of focus. The penalty call was on the back side official out by the blue line to make. That’s why there’s 2. And, he did, pretty much immediately.

Anyone who’s blaming the ref’s here is completely in the wrong, Mr. Color Commentator for MSG in that video. The refs did their jobs exactly how they were supposed to..

Nate they blew a call…yet again.

If a ref can’t notice and call a face-first shove of a vulnerable
player, face first into the post, no it’s not doing their jobs the way they’re supposed to.

If it is, it’s an even worse indictment of the league who sets these responsibilities.

I agree, the two-ref system means the center-ice guy is the one that needs to catch this (through traffic & while watching the rest of the ice).  More refs or more video might solve it, people will complain either way.
