Wow.  Pretty indefensible.

4 games. That’s as bad as the last few we’ve seen but he’s a star player in NY so only 1.

do the math

(jumping headshot + star perpetrator + role player recipient - lack of previous supplementary discipline - no injury on the play) x affect to a major market team = 2 games reg season; a fine in the truncated season

OH WEIRD, Kopecky’s helmet fell off…that NEVER happens…

He must be like the last guy in the league who doesnt tighten his chin strap, I dont get it.

And no, this isnt a “keep your head up” or “tighten the strap and your fine” comment. Nash should get a couple games. Just noting that even earlier in this game, Kopecky was skating around without a helmet cause it once again fell off…

Looks like an accident to me. Like Nash goes to check a guy, thinks better at the last second and gets caught between finishing him and getting out of the way.

There was a play like this with Bertuzzi last year, where he lines the guy up, realizes he’s about to clobber him in the face, tries to pull out of the hit, goes off balance, flails his arm in the process and elbows him in the head…which looked worse than it would had he just flattened the guy, even though the intent was exactly the opposite.

If Nash is trying to kill Kpoecky, he wouldn’t be doing a weird, airborne pivot around him when he’s moving in a straight line toward him.

The New York Post’s Larry Brooks is reporting that there will be no hearing:

Actually, it appears as if there will be no hearing on Nash…Boggles the mind.

I don’t think Nash’s intention was to elbow him in the head, but regardless of if Kopecky kinda ducks down or not, he was aiming high all along. Should be a couple of games.

Can’t believe there won’t be a hearing… there’s no excuse for his jumping there. Should easily be a game or two no matter what.

I saw that on nhl live and immediately thought ‘minimum two games’ very obvious leap before contact and contrast was high.
