Thanks for posting.

It’s important we always remember how much these young men
sacrificed to help liberate Europe from breathtakingly cruel, murderous, genocidal
occupation by an actual fascist, totalitarian dictatorship.

There is a reason surviving citizens of France, the Netherlands, and Belgium and their descendants still tearfully embrace the few surviving allied soldiers and pin medals on their chests. Those people knew what a real fascist occupation meant.

I know we try to avoid politics here - for good reason - but to me what they sacrificed should be beyond politics and that’s part of why I am so angry. Mara Liasson at NPR actually posted a map of the allied invasion at Normandy and labeled it “biggest antifa rally ever”. I’ve been more or less an old-school liberal since I was a teenager and have been part of plenty of activist causes for civil rights and equal treatment under the law. Calling yourself “anti-fascist” does not make it so, especially when you behave like brownshirts - roughing up every journalist you can get your hands on; attacking elderly people who made the innocent mistake of driving down or crossing a street near on of your violent mob shows of force; mobbing and brutally beating anyone you suspect of holding any view slightly different than yours - and justifying it by claiming anyone you disagree with is a “Nazi”.

The allied troops who subjected themselves to the unimaginable to free a continent from actual Nazis have nothing to do with those cowardly thugs.
But time passes and apparently some people think it’s clever to use their valor to elevate street thugs who would tear down everything those soldiers fought to him protect.
