Video- Radko Gudas With A Very Unnecessary Hit

via John Vogl of the Buffalo News,

As Sabres rookie Dan Catenacci was bent over looking for a puck, Gudas barreled in to drop the forward. The referees issued a five-minute major for charging and five minutes for fighting when Jake McCabe exchanged punches with Gudas.

“The guy’s an idiot,” Foligno said. “He’s dirty, goes after a rookie, goes right for his head. He’s an idiot.”

Catenacci, who had to be helped off the ice, underwent concussion testing after the game.

“There’s no question it’s a head hit,” Bylsma said. “I know the league will look at that hit and deal with it.”

An absolutely brutal hit that doesn’t belong in the game. How did he not get a game misconduct?

I knew this guy was a fuch head when I saw him in the Calder Cup series with the Griffins a few years ago. Get that *#$%@&, and hits like this, out of the game.

Man…. if this were just an open-ice hit we’d be in a definite gray area.  But Catenacci was already engaged with another Flyer.  That’s why the hit is so completely dirty as $#&*(.  There literally was no intent or purpose to the hit other than to injure.

This story is also missing context:  I went to NHL.com and looked up the boxscore.  In the second period Gudas high-sticked Moulson, and then promptly got in a fight with Foligno like only :30 after his penalty expired.

One of these times… a guy like Gudas is going to do something and the response is going to be even worse.  It’s *going* to happen.  I can totally see a guy see a teammate get hurt like that and just lose it and start two-hand whacking the ever loving $&#*( out of Gudas’ head.  Or they’ll just line Gudas’ head up from across the ice and run him and end his career.  Or kill him.

The consequences need to be so much greater for instances like this.  There was no “hockey play” to be made, and there had already been problems with Gudas in the game.

Sometimes I wish someone would take “one for the team” and just take their stick and slash the fuch out of his face. brake his nose, then beat the shiit out of him and end his career. I"m sure the league would go easy on player that ended gudas’ career. Get this duech bag off the ice.

Wow!  I mean, the hit was bad, and definitely warrants 5+ games but no sticks to the face BS.

This guy need to be shown the door. For at least 20 games. He has a history. Brutal intent to injure right for the head shot. Just sickening.

Lets Go Red Wings!!!!!
