That’s the smartest thing this guy has said in the last three and a half years. I nominate him to take the Garden Gnome’s place starting the last week of January 2013. smile

Isn’t pretty much every fan saying “just get it done”?  Not sure why Obama saying the same thing is a big deal.

Although it does seem weird that Leno would ask him that question.  I’m glad he did though.

And just so there’s no confusion, by “this guy” I was referring to Obama, not EvilPens. We all know the latter has never said anything smart. smile

It’s Bush’s fault, and you’re a racist.

Can we keep the politics to a bare minimum? I come here to forget that my freedom and liberty are being crushed everyday. Thanks.

JJ—What do you think—NBC tasking Leno to help put a little pressure on the league this way by asking the president about the lockout?

Otherwise it does seem like such a strange question for this time.  If he were running for president of Canada, that would be one thing…

I kind of think that’s the point.

It’s a comedy show (in theory anyhow…).  A good 0.086% of Americans give a flying f*ck about hockey, so why not ask the president of the United States of America about a sport that nobody cares about?

For the funny, I would think.

Yet he was all over getting the Refs to end their lockout for the NFL.

You know, I hadn’t thought of the NBC angle, but that’s pretty good.

I don’t think ANY President no matter which party should be lowering themselves to get into a dispute between Players & Owners. Bigger issues for them to be focused on

I hadn’t thought about the NBC angle either, that is pretty good.  I was figuring it was because of POTUS’s ties with all the major labor unions and his political stance with them.  Trumpka and Stern were two huge contributors to getting Barry in office and Trumpka boasted he’s spent more time at the White House than any non-staff member and gets face-time witht he president almost daily.

I agree with you here on the idea, but I don’t think the common political answer of “just get it done” in response to a late night talk show host asking him is really doing much to lower himself into this dispute.

Well, because he’s someone who’s part of the 0.086% of Americans who don’t give a flying f*ck about hockey. He thinks Brett Hull is a term that applies to naval ships – something he knows soooo much about.

And again, it’s The Tonight Show.  Just because Obama isn’t funny enough to think of a clever response doesn’t mean that the question was asked in earnest.

What? After spending the last two months on the circuit, the Talk Show In Chief’s response was a robtic “Get ‘er done,” and you think he wasn’t prepped to know that was coming? You’re as deusional as the folks at the Mega Stupid Nonsense Broadcast Channel.

You’re a smart guy, Garth. I’m sure you can figure out what channel I’m referring to.

I still think you’re missing the point.  Whether he was prepped for hours about it or whether it was asked on the spot, the question was still a joke.  Neither Jay Leno nor ‘Mike from Los Angeles’ expected a real answer.  The joke was, or was supposed to be, that someone is going to make up his mind on whether or not to vote for Obama based on what Obama would do to stop a sports lockout.  Not an actual political issue, but an argument between how much money hockey players get.
