You did hear from the rest of the guys Sarich, in the 250k fine insead of the 1m fine Bettman Inc said there would be for speaking out of turn.

With Detroit having such struggles in landing top level talent via FA the past 3 years, I wonder how big the blowback will be in the near futue when trying to land players with options.  Damage on that front could be significant.  Must plan on mining more Zetterbergs and Datsyuks to the big club soon.

On the bright side, l imagine that was a prety galvinizing comment for players and at the VERY LEAST brought them even more solidarity and intestinal fortitude

side note, everyone is talking about how the owners have plenty of money to weather a lock-out, and I’m sure they do.  But seeing that article stating the Wings will lose almost 100m dollars or a lost season, I wonder with all these Arena deals these owners have, how it’s going to affect their business.  I’m sure they wont go hungry but it doesn’t exactly mean they’ll stay flush from a business perspective going 100m in the red of an investment.  Someone more knowledgeable on these impacts care to chime in?

In fairness, the Wings being out about $75M in revenues from having no games also means they’re out a fair amount of overhead as well, so it’s not as much red ink as it initially seems.

The Wings are almost-certainly a team that will lose money from locking out. There’s an indeterminable number of teams that claim they would lose more money by playing under the old CBA than they would be simply locking out, eating arena costs and not paying their players/staff to create revenues for them.

In truth, there are of owners who also own the leases on their arenas who can otherwise fill those dates with concerts and make money as well (Sharks, Caps, Panthers, Rangers, and probably a good bunch more that I’m just not aware of)

That’s what I was thinking about, the arena lease deals some of these owners have and how easy/difficult it’d be filling 42 games worth of events or the monetary equivalent and whether or not some teams are more at risk than others.  Thaks JJ
