Reports are Thompson will return for the 2nd period, Caps lead 3-0 after one.

As things like this seem to happen more and more, I appreciate that the visor took the worst of it but… a full cage would have done more.

NCAA may have the right of it.  Just stick them all in full cages and be done with it.  And voila, you also then pretty much take care of the fighting controversy at the same time, because you can’t really fight in a cage.

As we’re seeing though, visors don’t stop everything, and in some cases not even as much as people think they would.

College students are also playing while earning an education, the result of which is most likely how they will earn a living for the rest of their life. Opening them up to risking a possibly life-altering injury before they’ve achieved that goal would be reckless, and a blemish on the school’s record even.

Most NHL players are grown men - they’ve decided that hockey is how they will try and make a living. At that point, they should be free to protect themselves in whatever way they deem fit.
