My 4 year old could have gotten it done if he had 50mil to throw.
What a jackass.

Someone might’ve said the same regarding Ryan Suter and $98M dollars, but Holland couldn’t land that.

Say what you will, Babcock told Shanny he was out of the running and Shanny did what he had to in order to change Babcock’s stubborn mind.

Can you think of a time Ken Holland did that?

No I cannot. But this does not mean Shanny is so great. They were supposedly told no, so Shanny’s bosses probably said give him a blank check literally.
Suter was getting pretty much the same kind of offers, 100mil range. Imagine if KH has the ability to double that. Do you really think Sutter would have sign with Minni then?
Probably not.
This was not a fair comparison, Garth

No, but what is Leiweke supposed to do, complain publicly that Shanny had to spend a lot of money to land Babcock?

Probably not.

Exactly.

Holland targeted Suter and did not get him.

Which is exactly my point.

If Holland had gotten Suter for $98M do you think Illitch would’ve publicly said he’s not a great GM, or would he have praised Holland?

The only way Holland was going to get Suter was if the moved the entire organization to Minnesota.  I think that’s a little above Holland’s pay grade.

You don’t know that.

Suter said it came down to Minny and Detroit.  Maybe if Holland pretended he gave a damn, rather than copping the same BS attitude of “we want guys who want to play here” and then lowballing Suter out of the gate.

People want to go where they’re wanted and Holland apparently doesn’t understand that.

Yeah Garth seems to think he could run the team.

And Suter…. where are the Wild???

And Babcock, you’d be surprise why players didn’t want to come to Detroit!
