The severity of Smith’s issue has yet to be determined with the team calling it a lower-body injury. Smith will be re-evaluated Wednesday in Montreal, the second stop on the Coyotes’ season-long, six-game road trip.

“It’s too early to get any diagnosis yet,” coach Dave Tippett said. “We’ll make sure we do our due diligence and find out what it is, and we’ll probably have more tomorrow.”
