It’s really hard to watch a game and actually root for the Leafs. Same goes for the Hawks. But that’s what Lil’ Gary’s bizarre draft lottery has forced us to do. But the Pens still managed to coast their way to a loss so there’s still room for a riduculous outcome on the 10th.

Nyquist blew the game and tried for an empty net goal (that was blocked at center ice) instead of skating it out and giving himself a better chance and getting a line change for his teammates.

Hell no. I am cheering for Columbus and the only reason I was cheering for the Hawks was because the Wings hold the Oilers 2nd round pick and that got higher with an early Oilers exit (I also like it when HNIC has no Canadian teams left). Same way I’ll cheer for Washington’s opponent to bounce them.

I really hope the Pens or Oilers (or even Toronto) gets the 1st overall pick. It is the only way the NHL will do something. Tanking is not what you want—-but letting teams in the 10-15 range have a shot at it is also just as bad. Letting top teams have a shot at it is thoroughly inexcusable.. Let the weasel be raked over the coals about being a Mickey Mouse league.

Talent needing contracts to match makes for a real cap issue that will mean loss of talent: and since Detroit is one of a handful of teams with plenty of cap space would benefit them that way too.

That was the sorriest four minutes I’ve ever seen.  Two shots at the EN and they missed them badly.
