Video-Evgeni Malkin Needs More Acting Lessons

via Sportsnet,

Evgeni Malkin was shamed not once but twice in the Penguins’ game against the Panthers, being called for embellishment and diving.

This is not true.  The first penalty was an “unsportsmanlike penalty” because after he was tripped he went after a panther (upshall).

The second penalty was an “embellishment” penalty, but if you watch it he was definitely tripped, and hopefully the league removes that from his record (55 second mark).

The refs called the second one right away as a trip, but then almost realizing at the same time that they would put the penguins on a 5-3 power play decided to call Geno on an embellishment penalty as well.

So to summarize, after all is said and done, he only received 1 embellishment call last night, and most likely that will be removed from the record if/when it is reviewed.

2nd one he was definitely tripped, no reason for him to embellish.  The first call was kind of odd and his penalty was for after the whistle activity.

Judging by the last 5 games, Detroit needs a lesson in how to win

I know announcers are employees of the team and have to tow the company line, but these two guys in Pittsburgh are off the chart homers!

In fact, these guys make the late Boston celtics announcer Johnny Most seem downright impartial and unbiased.  sick

Yes, you are right.  But, i remember when we had Mike Lange making the calls and there were times he would get more excited when the other team scored than when the pens scored.  It would drive me crazy.  With NHL centerice, you have the option of both feeds.  Sometimes i take a break from the homerism and watch the other feed, but for the most part, i enjoy have a couple homers to listen to.  Being away from Pittsburgh, it is almost like having a couple of my buddies with me watching the game again yelling at the screen for a missed call.

Why would people think you can’t dive if you’ve been tripped?

Where’s that come from?
