Brilliant image about Tortorella’s mentality. I think Torts and Marty may have had so much common in their characters that it actually helped to translate Torts’s ideas towards the rest of the Tampas team im their succesful Stanley Cup drive. The tortorellian style, apparently, is not easy to swallow for players. I read somewhere that when Tortorella came to Columbus, the assistant coaches had to somehow “translate” to players what Torts actually mean by saying, doing this and that. It seems like Marty bought in To Torts system and as an important player of an authority to Tampa in 2004 he was able to make the coach-players machine run as a well oiled, without-friction machine.
