The best goaltender in the world has given up 5 goals at this point tonight.  24 shots.

Grapes has been saying that Anderson is the best goalie in the world for a couple years now. Not sure where that notion comes from.

Same here, when I heard him say that last night I thought he was talking about some yet-unknown Andersen in some far-away league in Europe

I’m assuming, beyond Toranna being the center of hockey media universe,
it has to do with workload in numbers of games played and shots faced and the not exactly airtight D he plays behind.

But yeah…you’ve got to win a playoff round or two if you want serious consideration.

He’s probably been one of the better goalies of the past few years overall.
But too inconsistent at times. Can he outplay the guy across from him consistently enough to get the Leafs to the next round?

As usual Cherry makes more ridiculous statements based on on his very narrow view of things.

In no way shape or form is Andersen the best goalie in the world. hell, he wasn’t even in the top 10 in save percentage this season. After last nights game he isn’t even in the top 5 for playoff goalies. I’m not saying save percentage is the end all be all of measurements but it is a pretty decent starting point.

Cherry also says “if anyone gets killed in the NHL it will be because of a slew foot”. I’d bet my money on either boarding or perhaps hit to the heat. A slew foot could definitely end a career and I guess you could make a case for it causing contact with the head against the ice but I find that much less likely than someone breaking their neck from boarding.
