It wasn’t Bailey has to be aware that Kunitz after the shot wasn’t going to peel off He was going to go after the puck. League won’t be happy until Hockey is like Women’s hockey where ther is no checking allowed

except that it was exactly what is defined in Rule 43: checking from behind.
I dont think it deserves supplemental discipline, but the rule only allows majors and match penalties for checking from behind.

It is a borderline check from behind.  Kunitz didn’t propell Bailey using his arms.  Think it that Bailey was unprepared for the hit.

I think the player put himself in a vulnerable position, was seemingly off-balance, but still not a technically legal hit. All things considered, I think the penalty given during the game is enough.  Wonder what the league will say though.

That’s why I said

that bad.

I think it was a penalty but shouldn’t get any supplemental discipline and probably a 10 minute game was too much. Heck, it was barely even a check, more of a light push from behind. But it was from behind, hence the penalty. If he hadn’t gone hard into the boards, it would not have been a game misconduct.

It was a dive. Bailey shoulda got 2. Explain to me how his legs suddenly went out from under him from a bump in the shoulder. Bailey initiates the hit then goes down like he’s been shot. BS call all the way around, and the fact that Kunitz will probably now have to face supplemental punishment is the joke that continues to be NHL officiating. The refs and the Isles player should be proud of themselves for that performance *NOT*
