Video- Chara Chop!

Wow, I am sure most of us can recall some minor pulls, tugs, etc. that have been called.

Guess chopping Jiri Tlusty's stick is OK.

I’ve noticed this season that the referees have an alternate rulebook for Zdeno Chara.

Normally this is an automatic penalty that has nothing to do with game situation or referee interpretation, not unlike puck over the glass. This is the first time I’ve ever seen a referee not call a slashing minor when one player breaks another player’s stick until now, unless he completely doesn’t see it, which isn’t the case here..

I am shocked at the surprise.
Every other teams fans pretty much league wide have been saying the same thing all season. Chara is given almost a free pass by the officials.
The Bruins are officiated differently than their opponent.
The NHL at it’s finest. Shameful.

A terrible non call. Should have resulted in a penalty shot.

I wish I had the ability to make side by side gifs of this non-call and the slashing penalty against Jimmy Howard at the end of the Wings game tonight.  It’s a good contrast.

This is becoming as ridiculous as the NBA.
