Video- Can You Assume The Puck Crossed The Line In The Rangers/Sharks Game?

via the NHL Situation Blog,

At 16:45 of the second period in the San Jose Sharks/New York Rangers game, the Situation Room initiated video review to further examine Carl Hagelin's wraparound attempt on the San Jose net. No camera angles provided to the Situation Room provided a clear image of the puck completely across the goal line. As a result, video review was inconclusive, therefore the referee's call on the ice stands - no goal New York Rangers.

Watch the video below and start at the 1:12 mark when the review process begins...

Not sure how you can make a case for that being a goal under the current rules.  By the time you actually see the puck anywhere close to being over the goal line the ref hasn’t just blown the whistle, he’s standing there with his arms up.

Cameras have gotten so small and durable that it might be time to put more cameras in the crossbars themselves. One does not have to be a physicist to know that puck was fully across the goal line, but there is no visual of it happening. The issue isn’t where the puck is, but who could see it. It should have been a goal.
