Video- Brad Marchand Not Happy With Goal Celebration

via Matt Porter of the Boston Globe,

His lower lip swollen, an inch-long cut dotting his cheek, and with little interest in dwelling on the matter, Brad Marchand said he was sticking up for his teammates when he mugged Capitals center Lars Eller late in Wednesday night’s a season-opening rout.

“The celebration was unnecessary,” said Marchand, who was ejected at 13:54 of the third. “He took an angle in front of our bench and celebrated in a 7-0 game.”...

It earned the oft-disciplined left wing 17 penalty minutes for instigating, fighting, and a misconduct.

“That’s good,” coach Bruce Cassidy said. “He’s a proud guy. I think Eller was celebrating a little on a 7-0 goal. That’s his prerogative. Marshy let him know that’s not acceptable.”

Below watch the goal and Marchand fighting Eller.

First: I thought Marchand’s gloves were welded on since he rarely drops them to fight.

Second: Maybe he just needs someone to Kiss his boo-boo like he tends to do to others (lick/kiss what’s the difference).

He’s a major db and hopefully he gets pounded more this season.

Marchand, apparently the new arbiter of what is necessary and what is gratuitous conduct on the ice.

His coach thinks it’s “good” to mug and punch up a total non-fighter for a little wave.
serially, dangerously slew-footing and tripping opponents just because? Licking opponents and then going on and on about it as if it’s clever?

OK then. Any opponent who finds Marchand’s behavior unnecessary can and should
at any point jump him and punch him into the ice. I’m sure Bruce Cassidy will confirm for us how good he thinks that is.

Honestly, I have no idea, other than Boston’s traditional team of goons, why opponents have let Marchand get away with so much, especially when the league keeps giving him a pass.
But after this, Marchand sure can’t complain if a tougher player jumps him and beats him up, for as little as not liking his body language on the ice.

Maybe instead they shouldn’t have let them score a 7TH FREAKING GOAL instead of getting offended at the celebration.

God I hope every opponent spends extra time celebrating in front of BOS’s bench now this year.

Every.  SIngle.  One.

The only shocking thing about Marchand’s behavior is that he didn’t react like that after the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th goals because he’s that big of a d-bag.

Marchand and Kadri need to play a 2 v 2 game with an asteroid and a comet.

Marchand is a douche and will always be a douche. That being said, Eller was hot-dogging a bit and I’m not surprised someone got pissed off.
What annoys me the most is that Marchand continued to punch after Eller was down.

If you don’t want them celebrating, don’t let them score!
