Video- Artemi Panarin Throws His Glove At Brad Marchand

from Daniel Rainbird of Sportsnet,

Brad Marchand is among the league's best at scoring goals and setting up teammates, but his ability to get under his opponent's skin is unmatched.

On Friday afternoon, he caught his latest victim: Artemi Panarin.

As the clock wound down on a 5-2 New York Rangers victory over the Boston Bruins, a Marchand-Panarin argument from their respective benches reached a tipping point when the Rangers star took his glove off, whipped it across the benches and nailed Marchand in the centre of his chest.

What could Marchand have said to push Panarin over the edge? If you're taking the Boston winger's word as gospel, Panarin might've taken issue with Marchand's decision to opt for something other than turkey on his Thanksgiving dinner plate.

"We were just asking each other how Thanksgiving dinner went and he didn’t like what I ate," said Marchand post-game, cheekily stoking the fire on the situation a day after the American holiday.

Marchie is an amazing story…..

I admire how he built his career and worked his way to become an elite NHL player and plays the villain role to a T.

Panarin fined $5K today for unsportsmanlike conduct.

from Larry Brooks of the New York Post,

Artemi Panarin did not see the humor in it, not even a little.

Two sources confirmed Brad Marchand was yelling insults at Panarin from one bench to the other with 11.8 seconds remaining in the match between the Rangers and Bruins on Friday while invoking Vladimir Putin’s name and suggesting that no Russian likes the Blueshirts winger. Panarin responded by heaving his glove at the Boston winger.

Panarin was not available for comment, but Marchand tried to slough it off by suggesting the two were comparing notes about their respective Thanksgiving meals.

Marchand is basically like Maltby only really good at hockey. I’d take him on my team in a second.

Wings did have a Marchand.  His name was Martin LaPointe.

Wings have been looking for that kind of agitating RHD power forward for awhile.
