Don’t tell Malik, but the Versus team last night was even worse about loving the Bruins than the CBC team had been about covering the Canucks through games 1 and 2.  It was obvious that they were cheering for another extra game on the network, glad I don’t give a rats arse about who wins this series.

Milbury needs to be assigned a job to work security at high school hockey games in New England.

Way to be impartial Mike. Can we get someone who isn’t an ex-Bruin instead.

Does anyone know who Mike Milbury is rooting for?  He put on such a good poker face last night.

Between Milbury this year and Roenick/Olczyk with the Hawks last year, it’s been a pure homer fest for the network for the past few cups.

They are ridiculously bad about putting a filter on their opinions.

Grateful I get the CBC broadcast here in metro Detroit and don’t have to watch NBC and Versus very often.
Wish we could get CBC in HD though here in the states.
Milbury is the fred flintstone of hockey analyst. He’s entertaining at least.

I will not defend Roenick, but he played for the Flyers and the Hawks. And while I agree, VS/NBC puts Olczyk on too many hawks games, he does a good job on staying impartial. Most of the time when Olczyk says something as a “homer” for the hawks its after Pierre would specifically say “Eddie, you watch this team every day, what about…” You could always tell Eddie was staying away from coming across as biased, and he calls out the hawks during home broadcasts all the time anyway.

Either way, for a little integrity, VS/NBC shouldn’t put Olczyk on so many national Hawks games. But who cares who they put on the intermission/pregame. The whole point is that they get a point/counterpoint going. If everyone is on the same side then thats bs, but as long as Milbury, who completely sucks by the way, has someone at the opposite end as him, its fair game.

They do these segments all the time in any sport though. “if you are the coach, what do you say to them in the locker room?” So you can’t really blame him for doing what he was asked to.(I didn’t see this live, but they way he ends it makes me believe that is the exact question he was asked…)

Again, I don’t want to defend Milbury, because he made me feel like JR was a good analyst… But as long as the intermission show is two sided, who cares if you put a blatant homer on either side.

I haven’t tried this yet, but I am getting around to it: get a digital antenna to receive the Over-The-Air broadcast, it is free HD (provided you’re in the broadcast area).

Yep, that’s the only way to get it, at least for those of us in the States.  CBCHD is only over the air in the Windsor area at this point in time.

not even attempting to defend milbury here… especially since i did not see this but was this a case of where each of the “tv personalities” was asked “what would you say to the team if you were the coach”?  They do this a lot on NBC, where McGuire will take one team and Milbury will take another and each will say something attempting to be motivational.

Not saying this is what happened, just wondering.

You people baffle me. Of course Jonesy is gonna take the VAN side of things and Milbury is gonna take BOS point of view. Milbury works their games all season long, so ou don’t think he might just know a little more about that team than you? I think the guy is a bl;owhard but his points were dead on while he was asked to play coach of the Bruins and Jonesy coach of the ‘Nucks. it was great tv.

Nope. That’d be giving the network and Milbury way too much credit. Nothing planned out here, except possibly a “keep it simple, stupid” philosophy, which the color guys readily adopt. For the most part, Milbury is just a plain old homer that constantly displays his bias while adding very, very little actual hockey insight.

That’s too funny. Asking failed coaches with poor track records about their coaching. Ha! At least the TV broadcast NFL coach talking heads types are typically super bowl winners when asked “as coach what would you…”
Maybe that’s why the NHL broadcast studio shows are sucking so bad anymore.

Looking forward to your return to Van on Friday Millbury. Should be interesting how the crowd reacts to your presence at the Rog. Appreciate the unbiased reporting….oops sorry…...you’re not a journalist or respected broadcaster. How far up your ass is your head anyways?

ps. Rome’s hit was a fraction late. Sooner and it would have been a considered a fair open ice hit. Unfortunate for the injury to Horton, but did anyone else notice how Thorton tried to elbow Malhotra’s head behind the net. Good thing Manny had his head up and saw it coming. Quality guy eh!. Who’s calling the kettle black.
